Azul y Oro cigars mark the first official blend collaboration between Crowned Heads and Nicaraguan American Cigars S.A. It all started 11 years ago when Jon Huber and Mike Conder first met Gustavo Cura, “a man with a storied career in cigars and tobacco.” To show their appreciation at the time, Jon and Mike gave Gustavo a bottle of his favorite whiskey known for its iconic blue label. The bottle remains unopened as a memento. Yet since the chance to work together has arisen, Azul y Oro may become the reason to finally open it.
Manager of Oliva Tobacco Co.’s Nicaraguan farming operations and NACSA, Cura, along with NACSA’s Master Cigar Maker, Raul Disla, worked with Huber & Conder on a rich and complex blend that was worthy of an inaugural release between the two companies.
Rolled to a 6”x50 Toro, Azul y Oro consists of a Nicaraguan Jalapa binder and Nicaraguan fillers from three regions rolled in an Ecuador Habano wrapper. The medium-bodied smoke boasts deep flavors of leather, wood, and dark chocolate underscored by notes of pepper.
